The black Motta milk jug is a professional frothing pitcher from Italy's Metallurgica Motta, with the brand's signature shape and a black teflon coating. With a 500 ml capacity it covers a large latte or two small milk drinks, a practical in-between size for the bar. Reinforced walls absorb and slow the rise in temperature, giving you more time for maximum milk foam expansion.
Fill the jug with cold milk to roughly the base of the spout, leaving room for the foam to expand. Start with the steam wand tip just below the surface to draw in air, then lower it slightly to create a whirlpool. Stop at around 55–65 °C, tap the jug gently on the counter, swirl until glossy and pour straight away.
Rinse straight after use and wash by hand with warm water, a mild detergent and a soft sponge. Avoid scourers and abrasive cleaners, which can scratch the finish.
